Organizing Accessories – Save Money, Maximize Space

Keeping your wardrobe organized doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Below, I’ve curated a list of budget-friendly tools that will help you maximize your space while maintaining a neat and functional system.

Each of these products is practical, affordable, and complements the organizing strategies we go through in the program.

Wardrobe Organizers 15 Favorite Tools (to Make More Space)
Video explaining all the tools with demonstrations on how to use them (it’s very similar to the one inside the program, so if you’ve gone through the lesson, you don’t need to watch this).

For Drawers and Shelves

Please note that all the tools in this resource have paid links that take you to Amazon. That means that I get a commission on every sale at no extra cost to you.

I have only chosen the products I personally recommend and that I consider to be the best value options available. But feel free to browse or shop elsewhere if you think you can find a better value elsewhere.

1. Drawer Dividers

Lifewit 9 Pack Adjustable Drawer Dividers 4″ High, 11-17″ Long
Adjustable drawer dividers to keep your garments divided, and supports the folds and rolls to keep your space perfectly organized. These fits most standard drawer sizes since they are adjustable.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Prevents items from shifting or mixing together.
  • Saves time by keeping everything in its place.

2. Shelf Dividers

12 Pack Clear Acrylic Shelf Dividers

Perfect for separating stacks of clothes, shelf dividers help you create defined zones for both file folded, rolled, and flat folded clothes. Easy clip-on installation works for most standard shelves. These particular ones come in 2 and 12 packs, but there are other options for this generic product on Amazon.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Keeps piles neat and prevents them from toppling over.
  • Easy to install and adjust on most standard shelves.

3. Shelf Risers

Nxconsu Adjustable Shelf Raiser
Durable acrylic shelf dividers designed to prevent stacks from toppling.

  • Great for small closets or areas with limited shelving.
  • Allows you to organize more effectively without adding new furniture.

4. Fabric Bins or Storage Cubes

Amazon Basics Cloth Organizing Boxes
Boxes are great for organizing all your clothes whether it is on shelves, in drawers, or elsewhere. They work especially great for rolls and file folding since they support the garments and keep them from falling over when placed vertically. In addition to this, they work like shelf and drawer dividers by designating areas for specific uses. These Amazon Basics ones are a great balanced between price and quality.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Keeps drawers and shelves tidy.
  • Lightweight and easy to store when not in use.

For Hanging Clothes

1. Hanging Shelves

MAX Houser 6 Tier Shelf Hanging Shelves
Add instant shelving to your closet by hanging these fabric shelves from a rod in the hanging section of your closet. Perfect for creating more space by folding clothes effectively instead of hanging them which takes up more space.

Why I Recommend These:

  • A versatile solution for seasonal or everyday items.
  • Easy to move or adjust depending on your needs.

2. Slim Non-Slip Hangers

HOUSE DAY Black Velvet Hangers
Maximize closet space with slim, non-slip hangers that keep clothes secure and wrinkle-free. The friction of the velvet keeps almost all clothes from slipping off. These are the best option hangers for most people. Both slim and reasonably good at preventing piling in the shoulders.

Note: When they are new, they can transfer some velvet over to the fabric of your garments. It washes right off, but be careful to not hang white clothes on black hangers and vise versa before they have been used a few times if you want to be sure that you don’t get black velvet residue on your favorite white shirt.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Prevents clothes from slipping onto the floor.
  • Slim design saves valuable closet space.

3. Cascading Hangers

FeeraHozer Multi-Layer Hanger
Create vertical storage by hanging multiple garments from a single hanger, saving even more space. These works best for smaller bottoms like skirts, shorts, etc. as well as for most accessories that can be folded over. Generally, these are useless for collared shirts and thick sweaters.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Great for coordinating outfits or storing lightweight items like t-shirts and shorts.
  • A must-have for maximizing vertical space if you lack space and primarily hang clothes.

4. Extra Rod for Hanging

Simple Houseware Adjustable Closet Hanging Rod
Add a second level of hanging space with an adjustable rod, which can almost your closet’s capacity depending on what you hang. This is a no-brainer if you hang a lot of clothes and want more space.

Note: Make sure your top rod can handle the extra weight if you’re going to use the rod design above.

If you want to make sure that you don’t overload the top rod, you can also consider adding a second row that is screwed into the closet walls on its own to lighten the load. Here’s a great option: https://amzn.to/3VxhS7V

Why I Recommend These:

  • Ideal for separating shorter garments like shirts or skirts.
  • First option is super easy to install without tools, and the second one is quite easy to install as well.

5. S Hooks

HiGift S-Hooks for Accessories
Efficiently hang belts, bags, scarves, or even additional clothes from any rod or rail with sturdy S hooks. These particular ones have a rubber surface to make sure your garments don’t get damaged, but you can find them cheaper without the coating if you’d rather save a little extra.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Extremely versatile and durable.
  • Works in tight spaces where traditional hangers might not fit.

6. Hooks and Command Strips

Command Folding Clothes Hanger
There are many options out there if you want to add hanging space for jewelry, bags, scarves, or lightweight items without damaging walls. These particular ones are great because they can handle a quite a bit of weight, allowing you to hang up to 5 hangers onto the hook. Make sure to not overload them, though.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Ideal for renters or temporary setups.
  • A quick and easy way to add functionality to any space.

For Seasonal and Overflow Storage

1. Vacuum-Seal Storage Bags

20 Pack Vacuum Storage Bags
Compress bulky items like blankets to save space in storage bins or under the bed. These work best on non-delicate garments that don’t crease too easily. Otherwise, you’ll have some ironing/steaming work when you decompress the bag.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Keeps items protected from moisture, dust, and pests.
  • Perfect for freeing up space during off-seasons.

2. Clear Storage Bins

IRIS USA 32 Quart Stackable Plastic Storage Bins with Lids and Latching Buckles
Store seasonal clothes or items you’re unsure about in clear bins so you can easily see what’s inside. These are made of pretty hard plastic, so you can be sure that your clothes are safe, but there are cheaper fabric options available that will work just as well for most.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Makes seasonal rotation easy.
  • Can also be used as a quarantine box for decluttering as well as for extra storage inside your clothing space.

3. Under-Bed Storage Bags or Boxes

Budding Joy 90L Under Bed Storage Containers
Utilize the space under your bed for off-season clothes or rarely used items with zippered fabric bags that will fit under most beds, even if you don’t think they will!

Note: These also come in plastic if you prefer. But I recommend the fabric ones unless you really need the plastic to keep your garments extra safe. The fabric ones are very flexible and will fit under most beds. You can also get them in even flatter variations.

Why I Recommend These:

  • Perfect for small spaces with limited closet storage.
  • Affordable and effective for hidden storage or overflow from your clothing space.

Other Useful Tools

Labels and Label Makers

Maintain order by labeling bins, shelves, and drawers for easy identification. These are great because you can both write on them with a pen and use them in your printer.

Note: You can also consider a cheap label maker: https://amzn.to/4iD3OE2

Why I Recommend These:

  • Helps everyone in your household follow the system.
