What is the most forgotten item when traveling?

The toothbrush tops every survey on forgotten travel items, at 18 percent of travelers leaving it at home. Combined with toothpaste, the category hits 22 percent.

The top five most forgotten items:

  1. Toothbrush (18 percent)
  2. Phone and device chargers (19 percent)
  3. Sunscreen (18 percent)
  4. Deodorant
  5. Hairbrush

The pattern is clear: daily-use items get forgotten most because they are in use right up until you leave. You set the toothbrush down after brushing, intending to pack it, and forget.

Survey data from 29 percent of travelers says items get left out when placed aside but never transferred to the bag. The fix is a written packing list checked the morning of the trip.
